What Next After Adsense?

So you have been really successful in your adsense campaigns and your website is now getting some really significant traffic coming your way. That’s great news. But have you thought what’s next?
I don’t mean for one minute that you are going to get wiped of Google’s books. What I am talking about here is boosting your income yet further.
Google adsense is a great system. It works out for you what is really relevant for your site and then rewards you with a few cents or, in some cases if you follow the right Google adsense methods, dollars. But the problem with adsense it is that it is something of a trickle feed, and you really need quite a few websites knocking around to make it worth it.
Welcome in the old affiliate marketing! Now I know that some people are a bit wary of this, but there really is no need to be. Every single shop down your high street or in the mall is an affiliate marketer to some degree or other. They are happy to stock a product and tell you about it when you walk into the shop. They make profit when you buy. A better example would be a Body Shop or Avon rep.
It’s the same thing with affiliate marketing, only you don’t actually have the product in your hands to give to the customer. The chances are rather that you are going to simply point your customer to a related product. Kind of how Amazon.com displays the line which says ‘customers who bought this, also bought this!’ Or have you noticed the uncanny way that, if you belong to Amazon, shortly after you have browsed for a book or product, their next few emails contain very similar products or complimentary ones…very suspicious!
So affiliate marketing is above board. And you can use it along Google adsense without any problems at all.
Using a service such as Clickbank I have found to be most useful, though do be aware that if you haven’t used them before they do have this odd rule about needing 5 different real world buyers’ credit cards on file, one paypal payment, and being over you a certain limit before they pay out. I got caught out by that one – read the small print! Your first cheque can take a while and you can do no more than site and wait.
The other thing that you will have to do if you go down the affiliate route is to put it on your website somewhere to make it clear that you will be profiting if someone goes ahead and buys the product, and indeed that their browser will keep a cookie of the site they are currently on if they click the link. If you are operating on a wordpress blog this privacy policy is easy to find as a plugin (just search adsense privacy policy to find something suitable!)
You will continue to get adsense clicks, but just occasionally you will get a meaty clickbank purchase, and that is worth many times the adsense clicks. So your best bet is to keep both on the site.
And of course, promote the heck out of it!
